We are delighted to welcome Maria D’Silva back to Majma to teach some of the 2009 workshops.
With a classic, earthy and grounded style Maria’s flow and grace uplift each movement with passion and her workshops are inspiring.
Maria has been the featured guest dancer for numerous Arabic Dance events around the UK including Mosaic, WADA and Fantasia and has
appeared on television in the UK and Turkey. Recognised as one of the leading Master teachers of Egyptian Dance in the UK, Maria is
highly sought after for her teaching and performances. She is the organiser of the Midlands Arabic Dance Extravaganza and other
regular Arabic dance events in the UK and Egypt.
Maria has travelled extensively and danced in many Arabic countries with Egypt being her first love. She has performed in both Cairo
and Luxor and has wooed Arabic audiences in Egypt with her authentic feel of the dance.
Maria has gained recognition for her clarity, approachability, high standards and teaching skills by Egypt’s renowned Oriental
dance organiser, promoter and choreographer Madame Raqia Hassan as well as other Egyptian Master Teachers and the dance community.
Born in East Africa, Maria is a belly dancer of Goan Portuguese decent.
