French born Valerie learned various forms of dance, from ballet to modern dance. In 1998 she developed a passion for Flamenco and studied
the form in Chile and Argentina with local and Spanish renowned dancers. She also discovered Raqs Sharqi and trained with international
teachers.
Valeries's love of both dance forms led her to create a unique fusion that she calls Flamenco Descalzo® (Barefoot Flamenco in English).
Barefoot Flamenco is synonymous with fusion and synthesis. It returns to the flamenco's roots and puts a strong emphasis on Moorish and
Gypsy influences.
Barefoot Flamenco makes use of numerous technical elements such as flamenco steps, belly dance moves, gypsy dance hops and gesture. A precise
rhythmic work based on hand clapping or using finger cymbals characterize this original form of dance. Nevertheless, Barefoot Flamenco is
essentially a dance of freedom and gives us the
possibility of expressing ourselves, of expressing feelings through our body moving to the music. It provides us the opportunity of telling
a story, our own and intimate story. Barefoot Flamenco has a soul, which is the soul of each dancer who offers his/her dance to share with
the audience.
